Suddenly we are at the end of another year. As surprising as it is, I think that many people are happy to be at the end of 2016. Between deaths, the election, and world events, it has been a rough and tumble year. Overall there is a lot of negativity going around. Being an empathetic person, I often get pulled down by all of that. I have been very lucky, and have been able to stay fairly positive. I’m looking towards the new year with hope.
It was an interesting ride to work this morning. I was thinking about how short our lives are, and how we choose our paths. In my heart, I have always been a wanderer. It is extremely tough for me to stay in one place for too long. That is why it is difficult for me to maintain my 9-5 jobs. Life has swept me off my feet, and I have suddenly arrived in my mid twenties. I am suddenly thinking about marriage and kids, and the big things. But there are things that I want to do first. A road trip across America is one of them.
A road trip has always been on the list, but I imagined it would be later in life. After our lives settled down and the kids were out of the house. I have decided to do the trip sooner. If the last few years have taught me anything, it is not to take time for granted. The biggest mistake we make is assuming we have tomorrow. We always say “ Later, Later, Later”. Truth is all we have is now. A cross country road trip is one of my biggest goals, but now I’m sitting down and planning it. We are at least a year and a halfway from going. I want to do it right, and make sure we can complete the trip. As a writer and photographer I feel it would be a great experience. I have been so lucky to have great success with my platform this year, and I want to grow on that.
It won’t be a permanent thing. Another of my biggest goals is to settle down and to start a family. It is something I want soon, yet I’m not quite done adventuring yet. I want to go explore while I am still young enough to enjoy it. To tell you the truth, I’m not quite ready to settle down yet.
Im looking forward to 2017 and all the fun it has to bring.
