Its funny sometimes how memories can come back to you. It was early this morning when I was headed to work. On my way there I drive by our regional airport. It is nothing like Logan or LAX but it does land Southwest Airlines and cargo planes.
This morning, it was cloudy, and a thin mist hung over the edges of the runway. Out here, we do not have large swaths of field as they do out there. Once in our history, our land was bare, but those days are gone. Now the only wide swaths are airports, and athletic fields. Something about the way the mist hung over those fields, it reminded me of Iowa. Waking up and being surrounded by rolling hills and mist as the sun came up. Everyone talks about the Rockies or the ocean. Yet there was in incredible feeling that came over me as I rolled through the heartland.
The memory made me smile. If I hadn’t walked away from that job, I would have never gone out to Colorado, and I would have never been where I am today. Just another reminder that I made the right choice.
